What we do
Who We Are
The Friends of Alderman Kneeshaw Park is a passionate group of volunteers dedicated to making our park a thriving community space. By engaging with residents, families, schools, and sports clubs within HU9, we work to create a welcoming and vibrant environment where people can connect, play, and grow together. Our mission is to lead the social, environmental, and spiritual regeneration of the park, ensuring it remains a safe and cherished space for all. We believe that true change happens when a community comes together. That’s why we actively seek the involvement of local councillors, businesses, sponsors, and partners to help us make Alderman Kneeshaw Park a place that people love to visit and a key reason why HU9 continues to be a source of pride for its residents.

Our Vision
At the heart of our work is a commitment to fostering a space where individuals and families can learn, grow, and create lasting memories. We strive to increase knowledge and awareness about the park’s role in community life, encouraging everyone to take ownership of this shared green space.

The Purpose of Our Events
Our events serve as a powerful tool for bringing the community together and fostering a sense of purpose and belonging.
By encouraging volunteer participation, we create opportunities for individuals to contribute their skills and support, reinforcing the idea that these events are a collective effort by the community, for the community.
Using the principles of asset-based community development, we aim to empower each person involved, recognizing their value and contributions.
We place a strong emphasis on listening to and understanding our community members, cultivating a culture of kindness and trust. Each event not only celebrates our shared work but also opens the door for new ideas and initiatives to take shape, ensuring the park remains a dynamic and engaging space.

Our Goals
As part of our commitment to the park and the wider community, we focus on the following objectives:
- Community Consultation & Engagement: We actively seek input from residents and local groups to ensure the park meets the needs of its community.
- Encouraging Recreational Use: By hosting and supporting events and activities, we promote the park as a hub of leisure and social interaction.
- Inclusive Participation: We welcome all individuals, regardless of background or ability, to use and take pride in the park.
- Education & Biodiversity Awareness: Through workshops and initiatives, we aim to educate the community about horticulture and environmental sustainability.
